The Dorr Puma 8x42 is a waterproof roof prism binocular for birdwatching, walking and general nature watching. It gives a wide, bright view at a price that leaves room for a good strap and a field guide.
A wide, bright view for birdwatching
At 8x the image is steady in the hand and easy to scan, and the 141m field of view at 1000m makes it simpler to find a bird in a hedge or follow one in flight. The 42mm objectives give a 5.25mm exit pupil, bright enough for woodland and overcast days.
Waterproof and fog-proof
The magnesium alloy body is rubber armoured and sealed to 1m for 30 minutes, then filled with nitrogen so the lenses do not mist up inside when you come in from the cold.
BaK-4 prisms with phase and dielectric coatings
The roof prisms are made from BaK-4 glass, which gives a round, evenly bright exit pupil. Phase coating keeps the image sharp and contrasty, and the dielectric mirror coating helps colours look natural. All lens surfaces are fully multicoated.
Comfortable with or without glasses
Twist-up eyecups set the right eye distance. Leave them down if you wear glasses, twist them up if you do not. A dioptre adjustment on the right eyepiece corrects for differences between your eyes.
Which Puma is right for you?
The Puma 8x32 is lighter at 485g with a similar wide view. The Puma 10x42 brings distant birds closer for estuaries and open country. The Puma 8x56 is the one for dawn, dusk and night watching.
In the box
Binoculars, carry bag, neck strap, eyepiece and objective caps, and a cleaning cloth. A 1/4 inch thread under the focus wheel takes a tripod adapter.
