Thornfield HouseSigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC Art Lens for Fujifilm X
Our Price: £756.00
The Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC Art for Fujifilm X is a fast standard zoom for X series cameras, covering a 25.5-60mm equivalent range at a constant F1.8. That is the ground most people cover with a 16mm, 23mm and 33mm prime, in one lens. It suits the X-T5, X-S20 and X-H2S, where its size balances well.
Inside are 17 elements in 11 groups, including four SLD and four aspherical elements, which keep it sharp and free of obvious colour fringing at F1.8 across the whole range. An 11-blade rounded aperture gives smooth, round background highlights, and the front element has a water- and oil-repellent coating that makes it easier to wipe clean.
An HLA linear motor drives autofocus quickly and quietly and works with Fujifilm's subject and face detection. The zoom is internal and focus breathing is kept low, so the lens behaves predictably on a gimbal and during focus pulls.
The barrel carries an AF function button and a focus mode switch, so you can change how the lens focuses without going into the menus. The lens is dust- and splash-resistant and takes 67mm filters.
This is for Fujifilm shooters who work in low light, such as at weddings, gigs and events, and want to carry one lens instead of three primes. It weighs 535g, so it is a better match for the X-T5, X-S20 and X-H2S than for small bodies like the X-M5. If size matters more, the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 for Fujifilm X weighs 290g.

For most uses, yes. It covers the same ground as a 16mm, 23mm and 33mm prime at F1.8, though a dedicated F1.4 prime is still a little brighter and much smaller.
No. The X-T5, X-S20 and X-H2S have in-body stabilisation that works with it.
The 17-40mm is over a stop brighter and built for video with its internal zoom. The 18-50mm is far smaller at 290g and suits light bodies like the X-M5 and X-T50.
