Most travel zooms start at 24mm or 28mm. Starting at 20mm gives a noticeably wider view for cityscapes, interiors and big landscapes, while 200mm still reaches distant subjects.

There are 18 elements in 14 groups, including one FLD, three SLD and four aspherical elements. An HLA linear motor gives fast, quiet autofocus.

Build

The body is dust- and splash-resistant, the front element has a water- and oil-repellent coating, and a zoom lock stops the barrel extending in a bag. There is no optical stabilisation, so it relies on in-body stabilisation.

Who it's for

This is for travellers who want one lens from ultra-wide to telephoto. For more reach the Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS goes much further, and the Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN is brighter for low light.
