The Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN Art for Sony E is a full-frame ultra-wide zoom that Sigma bills as its definitive lens for astrophotography. It covers 14mm to 24mm at a constant F2.8, and at 795g it pairs well with an a7 IV, a7C II or a7R V for night skies, landscapes, architecture and interiors.
Optical design
There are 18 elements in 13 groups, including one FLD, five SLD and three aspherical elements. The large front aspherical element reduces coma, so stars stay sharp towards the corners.
Constant F2.8
F2.8 stays the same through the zoom range, so exposure does not change as you reframe. It is bright enough for the Milky Way with a sturdy tripod.
Filters
The petal hood is built in, so there is no front filter thread. A rear holder for sheet filters comes as standard.
Built for the outdoors
The body is dust- and splash-resistant, the front element has a water- and oil-repellent coating, and an assignable AFL button sits on the barrel.
