The Dorr 60mm F2.8 Super Macro is a manual focus macro lens for Nikon F cameras that focuses close enough to show your subject at twice life size. It is a simple, well built way into real macro photography, whether that is insects in the garden, the texture of a leaf, or small product shots on the kitchen table.
Most macro lenses stop at 1:1. This one goes to 2:1, so a 10mm beetle fills 20mm of the sensor, enough to show the hairs on a bee's leg or the scales on a butterfly wing. Closest focus is 18cm, measured from the sensor, which leaves only a few centimetres between the front of the lens and your subject at full magnification. Soft, even light helps a lot at this distance.
At 2:1 the depth of field is very thin, and autofocus often hunts. The Dorr uses a large, smooth focus ring instead. Many macro photographers set the focus ring and then rock gently forwards and backwards until the detail they want snaps into focus. Live view zoom on your camera makes this much easier.
On DX bodies such as the D7500 and D5600 the lens gives a 90mm equivalent view. It has no CPU, so set the aperture on the lens and shoot in manual mode; the D7500 and entry level models such as the D3000 and D5000 series cannot meter with non-CPU lenses, so use the histogram or a test shot to set exposure. It also fits Nikon Z mirrorless cameras with the FTZ adapter, where focus peaking makes manual focus easier still.
The optics are 9 elements in 7 groups with multicoating to control flare. The barrel is metal, the lens weighs 440g and it takes 62mm filters, so a polariser screws straight on. A drawstring pouch is included.
The same lens is made for Sony E, Fujifilm X, Micro Four Thirds and Canon EF. You can see all five together in our Dorr 60mm macro lens range.

No. It is a manual focus lens. Use live view and zoom in on the screen to check focus, or rock gently towards your subject until it looks sharp in the viewfinder.
A subject is recorded on the sensor at twice its real size. Most macro lenses reach 1:1, so this lens shows twice the detail.
The closest focus distance is 18cm from the sensor. At full 2:1 magnification that leaves a few centimetres between the front of the lens and your subject.
Higher end Nikon DSLRs such as the D7200, D500, D750 and D850 can meter with non-CPU lenses once you enter the lens data in the menu. The D7500 and entry level models such as the D3500 and D5600 cannot, so shoot in manual mode and check the histogram.
Yes, with the Nikon FTZ or FTZ II adapter. Focus remains manual, and focus peaking on the Z camera makes it easier.
Yes. On an APS-C body it gives a 90mm equivalent view, a classic head and shoulders length, and F2.8 blurs the background nicely.
62mm.
The lens, front and rear caps and a drawstring pouch.

The quality of the product is excellent it has a smooth focus throw and has protective glass on the outer lens. This is the first macro lens i have bought, after trying all other methods and couldn't be happier. I have had results without a flash so far on the nikon D500.
