Offering full sensor width 8K internal RAW recording at up to 29.97fps and 4K at up to 119.88fps* in either 4:2:2 10bit Canon Log or 4:2:2 10bit HDR PQ, EOS R5 allows you to fully expand the world of filmmaking and explore dynamic new ways of telling your story.

More than face value
Now everything comes into focus. With advanced animal subject tracking AF, The EOS R5 is able to recognise dogs, cats and birds detecting either the body, face, or eye of the subject. For the first time on any Canon camera, 5 axis In Body sensor movement Image Stabilisation is offered which works in harmony with Canon RF lenses to combine Optical and In-Body Image Stabilisation to provide the ultimate in shake free super-sharp images and movies.
Versatile and adaptable
For performance that matters, look under the skin. The powerful combination of CFexpress and SD UHS-II card slots allows you to shoot more for longer. And as the EOS R5 is part of the incredible EOS R family, with the stunning RF mount that offers the ultimate in quality and adaptability, it’s also compatible with Canon’s incredible EF lens range thanks to a choice of RF-EF adapters for seamless integration.

The R5 replaced a well-used 5D iv; there is a step change in image quality and resolution which is greater than I expected. It is taking some getting used to but is largely intuitive after the 5D. I have been using it predominantly with the 100-500 RF lens which is superb. I am still learning about its capabilities particularly with birds in flight. The combination is very versatile for wildlife photography and I have no regrets over changing up to the R5. It is a little lighter but appears robust. I am delighted with the images I have taken since I bought the R5 3 weeks ago, but it is early days of learning how to get the best from it.
It is regrettable that at the moment it is not possible to open CR3 images with Quick Look on a Mac, which is unhelpful, and as far as I can see, EOS Utility 3 will only open as small images from which it is not possible to choose which to download and save. Nor can they be opened with Preview. It has meant a change in the way I manage my files which is now more complicated. I am awaiting a response from Canon technical services.
