From the Blog:Swarovski Module Spotting Scope System Explained
Harrison Cameras, 112-114 London Road, Sheffield, S2 4LR
Swarovski 85mm Spotting Scope combines a flexible objective scope body with three different eyepieces for optical perfection. Sold seperately, the two main parts of the Swarovski spotting scope are the objective lens body, either the 65mm, 85mm and 95mm and the eyepiece module, either the ATX (angles), STX (Straight) or BTX (Binocular). It is a brilliant design, as the spotting scope is very compact when not in use, so perfect for carrying.
85mm Objective Lens
The 85mm objective diameter on the Swarovski scope body allows lots of light input than smaller objectives and although slightly larger and heavier, it is well worth the extra weight and size. We recommend that the scope be attached to a tripod for prolonged use, as it is physically and optically difficult to hold steady for any length of time. This doesn't mean it has to be difficult to take out and about, as it is superbly balanced and once attached to a tripod, great for resting over the shoulder. It can also fit into a carry case, which also protects the optics and the body of the scope.
Nitrogen Filled
The nitrogen filled body prevents fogging and means that the unit waterproof down to 4 metres. The strong, lightweight body on the Swarovski 95mm Spotting scope, makes the unit easy to carry and set up and it has a tripod bush underneath the body to screw it onto a tripod, which is by far the best way to use the scope for any length of time. The 95 objective lens will take either the angled, straight or binocular eyepieces, which simply twist fit onto the scope body depending on personal preference.
Fast Focus
The focusing on the scope body is fast to use and because the ribbed wheel is wide, it is very easy to locate even whilst still looking through the eyepiece. The zoom barrel is just behind it, so that the unit can be focused and then seperately zoomed whilst the focus remains fixed.
Stunning Optics
Swarovski Optics have primarily been refined on the back of their jewellry polishing business, which has over 100 years of research and development. From this high level of experience Swarobright and Swarovision coatings have been invented, to promote extra light input and optical longevity to ensure that the image recieved by the eye when looking through the scope, is the absolute best it can be. Swarovski optical technology includes High Definition lenses containing fluoride, as well as field flattening capabilities the first of which helps reduce colour fringing around the subject being viewed and the latter gives pin sharp, edge to edge clarity, which is a necessary cost for pleasurable viewing. The coatings are also applied to the exterior lenses, to counteract the Brisitsh weather and everythign that it throws at us. They repel water, dust and dirt, which means no annoying marks stay on the optics whilst in use and once back home, a quick clean with a lens cloth gets rid of 99% of residue; for anything a bit more stubborn, then a quick rinse under the tap sorts that out.
Warranty
Swarovski are very confident about the quality of their 85mm objectiv scope, as they have decided on a 10 year warranty through any manufacturing fault. They have a comprehensive warranty policy, which can be viewed here.
