Shoot beautiful low light scenes with the Sony 50mm 1.4 ZA Zeiss Planar T* FE Lens. Designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, this standard prime lens offers a 50mm focal length and bright F1.4 aperture for beautiful perspectives and smooth bokeh. Featuring ZEISS coated lenses, smooth autofocus, and intuitive controls, image quality is consistently sharp and full of contrast across the frame.
Smooth Autofocus
The RDSSM (Ring Drive Super Sonic wave Motor) system handles the operation of the focus drive to achieve a fast, smooth and silent autofocus. The mechanism brings out the full-potential of the lens and the paired high-resolution camera body for precise focusing when shooting stills or movies.
Fingertip Control
Sony have incorporated a variety of intuitive controls to ensure handling is efficient. The aperture ring allows for smooth aperture control. An aperture click switch makes it possible to enable or disable the aperture ring click stops as required. Switch instantly between auto and manual focus with the focus mode switch.
Bright F1.4 Aperture and 11 Blades
With a F1.4 maximum aperture, photographers can take advantage of low light conditions by shooting at high shutter speeds. The bright aperture can also be used to control depth of field and producing a beautiful bokeh effect. Paired with the impressive 11-blade circular aperture design, bokeh quality is enhanced with incredible smoothness and natural looking highlights.
Lens Construction
The Sony 50mm lens design is constructed of an AA (Advanced Aspherical) lens element, two aspherical lens elements, and a single ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element. The lenses are positioned for optimum use of their technology, to supress optical aberrations such as field curvature and distortion. Resolution, contrast and sharpness is consistent across the frame at any focusing distance.
Preventing Ghosting and Flare
ZEISS T* Coating has been applied to the lenses to supress unwanted reflections, such as ghosting and flare, when working with bright light sources/conditions, including backlighting. ZEISS lenses ensure images are full of enhanced colour and contrast, giving them a three-dimensional feel.
Protected and Reliable
Sony have implemented dust and moisture sealing to ensure protection and consistent operation in more challenging environments. In light rain and windy conditions, the Sony 85mm lens will continue to deliver high quality performance.
