A Direct Drive SSM (DDSSM) system is in place to ensure precision positioning of the heavy focus group whilst driving a quiet operation – beneficial for shooting movies where smooth focus change is needed, as well as enhanced audio. An advanced control system and improved algorithm enhances overall AF operation speed. The Sony 24-70mm lens includes a manual/auto focus mode switch so the user can take control of the focus and instantly switch between the modes.

Advanced Lens Construction

The optical construction includes one ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens element and one Super ED glass element to reduce axial and lateral chromatic aberration. Achieve natural, lifelike imagery with stunning texture and detail. An XA (extreme aspherical) lens element with superlative surface precision also contributes to the incredible resolution and sharp detail throughout the zoom range.

Combatting Ghosting and Flare

The lenses feature Sony’s Nano AR Coating to minimise ghosting and flare when working with bright light sources, such as backlighting. Sharpness, high contrast and clarity is maintained across the frame in a variety of conditions.

With a bright F2.8 maximum aperture, the user can maintain exposure settings throughout the entire zoom range which makes working in low light easier. Paired with the nine-bade aperture, bokeh is enhanced to achieve beautiful smoothness to natural highlights.

Secure Construction

For easy and secure portability, the lens features a zoom lock switch that ensures safer transportation by fixing the zoom length. The hood has a lock mechanism to prevent accidental hood detachment when on the move, and the hood release button allows for simple attachment and detachment of the hood whenever necessary.
