The Sigma 50mm F2 DG DN Contemporary for Sony E is a compact full-frame standard prime from Sigma's all-metal I series. At 345g it keeps an a7 IV, a7C II or a7R V small for street, travel, family and everyday photography.

Image quality

There are 11 elements in 9 groups, including one SLD and three aspherical elements, and a nine-blade rounded aperture for smooth backgrounds.

All-metal build

The barrel and aperture ring are metal, and a magnetic metal lens cap comes in the box.

Autofocus

A quiet stepping motor handles stills and video, and supports face and eye detection.

Handling

The manual aperture ring falls naturally under the fingers, and the 58mm filter thread is shared with the Sigma 35mm F2.
