The Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art for Nikon F is a fast full-frame standard prime for Nikon DSLRs. Sigma designed it to minimise aberrations and keep the corners bright, and it suits portraits, weddings, street and low-light work.

Optical design

There are 13 elements in 8 groups, using SLD and aspherical glass to control colour fringing and distortion. Sigma's Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting.

HSM autofocus

The Hyper Sonic Motor focuses quickly and quietly, with full-time manual override from the focus ring.

Bokeh

A nine-blade rounded aperture and the F1.4 maximum aperture give smooth, soft backgrounds for portraits.

Compatibility

It is made for Nikon F DSLRs such as the D850, D780 and D750. Sigma has discontinued this DSLR version, so check stock before you plan around it. It takes 77mm filters and works with Sigma's USB Dock.
