Thornfield HouseSigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Sony E
Our Price: £319.00
The Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary for Sony E is a small, bright standard prime for APS-C cameras. It gives a 45mm equivalent view, close to what the eye sees, and its F1.4 aperture lets you blur backgrounds and shoot indoors without flash. At 265g it suits an a6700, a6400 or ZV-E10 II well.
There are 9 elements in 7 groups, including two aspherical elements and a front element of high-refractive, high-dispersion glass. Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting, so images keep their contrast in backlit scenes.
F1.4 gives a shallow depth of field for portraits and still life, and the nine-blade rounded aperture renders out-of-focus areas smoothly. Stopped down, the same lens is sharp enough for landscapes and everyday snaps.
A stepping motor moves a light focus group for fast, smooth and quiet autofocus, which makes the lens easy to use for video. It works with the camera's face and eye detection.
It weighs 265g, measures 64.8 x 73.3mm and takes 52mm filters. The barrel uses TSC, a thermally stable composite, the bayonet is brass, and the mount is sealed against dust and splashes. It focuses as close as 30cm, for a maximum magnification of 1:7.
This is for anyone who wants a small, light way into fast-aperture photography, for portraits, family pictures, food and low-light shots. The a6700 has in-body stabilisation; the a6400 and ZV-E10 II do not. For a wider everyday view, the Sigma 23mm F1.4 DC DN is the step out, and for head-and-shoulders portraits the Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN is the step in.
Also available for Fujifilm X, Canon RF and Nikon Z.

It gives the same view as a 45mm lens on full frame, close to a classic 50mm standard lens.
It works well for half-length and environmental portraits, and F1.4 separates the subject from the background. For tighter head-and-shoulders portraits the 56mm F1.4 is the better choice.
The zoom is more flexible. The 30mm is two stops brighter, so it is the better choice for low light and for blurring backgrounds.
No. It relies on in-body stabilisation where the camera has it.

I bought a Sony A6700 with the 18 - 135mm lens last year. It's a great lens but I realised I needed a lens that was better in low light, could produce great background blur and wasn't too wide. After a lot of research I settled on this fantastic lens. It delivers on both those counts and is also very sharp. Highly recommended
The sharpest lens that I own. This lens really gives it up in terms of biting sharpness and contrast. A marriage made in heaven when on my A6000.
This is a tack sharp lens. And fast too. Autofocus is spot on. My favourite street lens by a mile!
Amazing! A great lens, fast, sharp that makes stunning images. I have lenses that have cost me 4-5 times more money and are not as good as this one. Amazing value.
