Stunning Image Quality
The f/4 rounded 9-blade aperture allows you to achieve incredible sharpness and resolution from the centre to the corners of the frame. Confidently point into bright light sources and reproduce stunning backlit scenes. The optical design also allows you to give your subject full focus and attention by creating that desired smooth bokeh effect.
Travel Friendly
Travel far and wide with the Nikon 24-120mm lens. Featuring a solid build and sealing to protect from dust and moisture. As well as Nikon’s Fluorine coating on the front lens element to repel dirt and for easy cleaning.
Minimum Focusing Distance
Capture intricate details thanks to the close focusing distance of 0.35m across the entire zoom range and the 0.39 maximum reproduction ratio so you can fill the frame with your subject.
Nikon have incorporated 16 elements in 13 groups, including 3 ED (Extra Low Dispersion) elements, 1 aspherical ED element and 3 aspherical elements. The glass elements are strategically arranged for optimum performance to ensure optical aberrations are significantly reduced throughout the zoom range.
Coated Elements
Nikon’s Nano Crystal and ARNEO coats are included to prevent ghosting and flare when working with bright light sources/backlit situations. Benefit from consistent sharpness and vivid contrast across the frame.
Customisable Control
The addition of the silent control ring allows you to control shooting parameters from the lens, including setting aperture, ISO and exposure compensation. The lens’ FN button also gives you the option to assign preferred functions for easy control.
Ultra-fast Autofocus
The Nikon 24-120mm lens has a Z multi-focusing system that uses two AF drive units to enable a fast, precise and near-silent autofocus. With no focus-shift or focus breathing, you can enjoy smooth footage even when moving between different light conditions. Stable exposure control allows for a natural shift for natural-looking footage.

I had the AF-S version of this lens when I had my D850 and loved the focal length for travel and longer hikes but the problems with sharpness in the corners and poor CA especially when shooting landscapes meant that it lasted only 6 months before I sold it. This is a different proposition entirely. Same great focal length but none of the problems with the previous version and the build quality is much better. It feels solid and it is very, very sharp, almost as sharp as my Z 24-70 f/2.8S and that is no slouch. It will be interesting to see how it performs in low light at concerts given the excellent performance of the Z8’s sensor at higher ISOs but in any case it’ll be in my bag everywhere I go. If you are thinking about getting one, don’t hesitate as there’s a good reason they are often hard to find - it’s an excellent lens at a great price!
Terrific 5x zoom lens from Nikon here; sharp, fast focussing and a constant aperture throughout the range. I had the 24-200mm but am glad that I've upgraded to this model. Harrisons also sold it at a good discount which certainly helped!
Primarily a prime shooter, I wanted an everyday walkabout lens, that was compact enough to take on holiday and hikes, yet have the quality and sharpness I've been accustomed to with my Z S line primes and Sigma Art primes. This Z 24-120 f/4 satisfies those needs and then some. It is tack sharp throughout the focal range, maybe a touch softer at the telephoto end, but still really sharp (Checkout the ePhotozine review of the lens, they say it's the sharpest lens they have reviewed!). To my eye, wide open, the bokeh is smooth in transition and is not distracting at all. The lens feels solid and well built (a Z S line after all), yet light enough, and balances perfectly on my Z6ii. I have now sold on my 'kit' lens z 24-70 f/4 (which was no slouch!), because this 24-120 is just so much more useful for me. Unless you need f/2.8 or longer than 120mm, this is the best wide-telephoto zoom lens on the Z system.
Special thanks to Harrisons to having one in stock at a time when they were as rare as rocking horse poop.
Always had the F mount 24-120 in my kit when I used DSLR's. When I transisitioned to my current Nikon Z system, I was looking for something similar.
I had the Nikon Z 24-200 and the Z 24-70 F 4 lenses (and they were both brilliant), but i replaced the 24-200 with the 24-120 S and haven't regretted it. Being in the UK, the days mostly aren't overly bright to the F6.3 max aperture at the long end of the 24-200 meant i was goinf over ISO 6400 quite often when it was gloomy, so having that just over 1 stop difference in aperture is great (even if I do sacrifice 80mm of focal length).
For me the 24-120 is the ideal travel lens with it being wide enough at 24mm for most vistas and long enough at 120mm for picking out details and portraits. Coupled with it's focal lengths, it's nice and tack sharp throughout it focal range and handles very nicely and is well balanced and not too heavy.
For anyone looking for an all in one lens with a constant aperture, then look no further. Recommended.
