If you’re looking to excel in your quality of photography, the Nikon 80-400mm F4.5-5.6 G AF-S ED VR Nikkor Lens proves to be a versatile but spectacular choice for handling long-distance wildlife and action photography. Isolate your subjects in the hustle and bustle or deliver more personal shots thanks to the incredible focal range.
The Nikon 80-400mm lens has the broadest focal range in Nikon’s super-telephoto zoom collection making it the only lens you’ll need. It is powerful but lightweight so you can carry it with you everywhere and anywhere.
Featuring the Vibration Reduction technology, the Nikon 80-400mm lens expands your handheld shooting capabilities. No matter the focal range, VR supports your you by providing 4 stops of blur free handheld shooting.
Keep a comfortable distance and still achieve breathtaking, razor-sharp shots. Get as close as 1.75m from your subject and zoom all the way in to 400mm to achieve superb macro detail!
Nikon have incorporated technological advancements to ensure there are minimal optical defects. Including Nikon’s exclusive Nano Crystal (N) Coating to battle ghosting and flare cause by light entering the lens diagonally. As well as Super Integrated (SIC) Coating to amplify the contrast and colour.
Nikon have developed ED (Extra-low Dispersion) and Super ED Glass that is used alongside normal optical glass to ensure it eliminates chromatic aberrations. Super ED glass has a lower refractive index and lower light dispersion compared to ED to correct all the wavelengths that effect chromatic aberration.
Nikon have included many technological elements to ensure fast but precise focusing with the 80-400mm lens. The exclusive Silent Wave Motor speeds up the autofocus function to ensure focusing is accurate and near-silent. Fine tune the details by switching to manual mode whilst shooting by turning the focusing ring on the lens. This gives you the opportunity to quickly focus up without the lag time. The Auto-Priority Manual Mode also enables a seamless transition from autofocus to manual during AF operation.
As an Internal Focus NIKKOR Lens, during auto focusing the lens does not change in size. This makes the Nikon 80-400mm lens lightweight and compact but capable of closer focusing distances.

This has to be one of the most versatile lenses I've bought. The range is great and gives pin sharp photo's, but it also takes photo's that are pin sharp at it's min focus length that when cropped would pass as macro shots. Works well with the Nikon 1.4x teleconverter too, giving an awesome range for the price.
