The Leica Ultravid 8x42 HD-Plus Binoculars offer exceptional optical performance, perfect for those who demand both precision and durability. Featuring a magnification of 8x and a front lens diameter of 42mm, these binoculars deliver stunning clarity, making every detail visible with remarkable sharpness and brilliance. The fluoride lenses, combined with the HDC coating and Leica AquaDura protection, ensure outstanding colour fidelity, brightness, and contrast while minimising stray light for optimal viewing.
With an exit pupil of 5.2mm and a twilight factor of 18.3, the Ultravid 8x42 HD-Plus excels in low-light conditions, making it ideal for dawn and dusk observations. The field of view is 130m at 1,000m (389ft at 1,000yds), allowing you to take in a wide area, while the close focusing distance of approximately 3m (9.8ft) brings you closer to your subject.
The internal focusing system, operated via a central focusing device, ensures quick and accurate adjustments, taking less than two full turns from close-up to infinity. The binoculars also feature automatic diopter compensation (ADC) and are adjustable for eye relief, making them comfortable for those who wear glasses. The interpupillary distance is adjustable from 55mm to 75mm, further enhancing user comfort.
Built to withstand all conditions, the Ultravid 8x42 HD-Plus is made from a lightweight yet robust die-cast magnesium housing, nitrogen-filled to prevent fogging, and watertight up to 5m (16.5ft). Whether you're hiking in the mountains or exploring marine environments, these binoculars are ready for any adventure. Their compact dimensions (121 x 142 x 67mm) and weight of 790g (27.9oz) make them both portable and durable, ensuring they'll be your trusted companion for years to come.

Having already had two returns for various reasons, one Minox and one Swaro, I decided to "play safe" with a binocular I already knew, having owned an original Ultravid HD a few years ago. What a mistake that turned out to be.
The old model had a lovely, classy texture, as should these if you look at the image presented in the advertising. Imagine my horror when I took it out of the box to discover it now has a smooth, soft rubber armour that is covered in a white powdery residue. I should have taken a photo, but I was so disgusted, it went back in the box at the speed of light!
I don't doubt that the optics are still top-notch, but I don't care when the binocular looks like something you might pick up at a car boot sale.
Shame on you, Leica.
