Kowa TSN-88S Prominar Straight Spotting Scope Body

The Kowa TSN-88S Prominar is the straight version of Kowa's 88mm fluorite scope. This listing is the body only, so you can choose the TE-11WZ II zoom or the TE-80XW fixed wide eyepiece to go with it.

88mm pure fluorite crystal

The 88mm objective is pure fluorite crystal, which almost eliminates colour fringing and gives very natural colour. It is a good balance between the brightness of the 99mm and the weight of the 66mm.

Dual focus and tough body

The dual focus system gives a fast wheel for getting close and a fine wheel for pin-sharp detail. The magnesium alloy body is waterproof and nitrogen filled, with KR coating on the objective. Kowa's adapters make it a very capable digiscoping scope.

Why choose the straight version?

A straight scope points where you look, so it is quicker to find a bird, easier to use from a car window or a hide, and simpler for beginners.

Body only: choosing an eyepiece

This listing does not include an eyepiece. The TE-11WZ II wide zoom gives 25-60x on the TSN-88S, and the TE-80XW is a fixed extreme wide-angle eyepiece. If you would rather buy everything together, the TSN-88S with TE-11WZ II zoom is the same scope with the zoom eyepiece included.

The TSN-88S in numbers

The TSN-88S has an 88mm objective, a close focus of 5m and a 95mm filter thread. The body weighs 1480g and is 326mm long.

Which Kowa scope should you choose?

If this isn't quite right, the TSN-88A is the angled version; the TSN-88S with TE-11WZ II zoom is the same scope with the zoom eyepiece included; the TSN-99 kit gives the biggest 99mm objective.
