The Kowa BD XD 8x56 Prominar is built for the last light of the day. The 56mm lenses and 8x magnification give a 7mm exit pupil, which is as big as the human eye can use, so the view stays bright long after smaller binoculars have gone grey.
Big lenses for low light
Large 56mm objectives collect more light than a 42mm or 50mm binocular. That matters most in the half hour after sunset or before sunrise, when the view through smaller glass turns flat and grey.
XD lenses
Kowa's XD extra-low dispersion glass keeps colour fringing down, so the edges of an antler or a perched owl stay crisp even when the background is bright sky.
Waterproof and fog proof
The body is waterproof and nitrogen filled. Close focus is 3m, which is normal for a binocular this size.

The Kowa BD XD 8x56 Prominar has a 106m field of view at 1000m, close focus of 3m, 23mm eye relief and a 7mm exit pupil. It weighs 1050g and measures 167 x 148.5 x 66.5mm.
