The Hawke Nature Trek 8x32 range of binoculars have been designed to be used out doors in all weathers and have a shock-resistant polycarbonate body, providing a robust yet still lightweight pair of top-hinge binoculars. They are filled with nitrogen, which helps them avoid fogging in bad weather and if it is a particularly bad downpour, don't worry, because they are sealed to be fully waterproof. This also means that if you accidentally fall in a mountain stream and the binoculars fall into the water, they will remain dry inside and still be perfectly good to use. The waterproofing also helps when cleaning the binoculars, as they can be swilled under the tap, to remove any large pieces of dirt.
The focusing on these Hawke Nature Trek 8x32 binoculars is internal which helps keep the unit well sealed from moisture, dust and dirt and reduces the need for external moving parts. The optics within the binoculars have been manufactured to a high standard, giving a crisp high resolution image, with natural colour reproduction, ensuring that what you are looking at, is what has you see close up. The binoculars are great to hold, as they have been ergonomically designed for safe handling, even when wearing gloves and the rubber focus ring is in a really comfortable position, making it easy to find when using them in the field. The focus ring is smooth and fast, so takes the worry out of focusing on the subject quickly, which is an added bonus as we all know, wildlife tends to have a sixth sense when it comes to being watched.
In addition to the main focusing wheel, which focuses both barrels of the binoculars, the +/- eyesight correction wheel on the right hand barrel can be corrected by three stops to each users individual eyesight up to plus or minus 2. Its really easy to do, just focus the binoculars on a stationery subject and get the image relatively in focus, then shut the left eye and rotate the eyesight correction wheel until the image is absolutely pin sharp and that's it, the binoculars are set and ready for tailor-made viewing. The long eye-relief on the binoculars, is particularly good for spectacle wearers as it ensures that the full image is displayed in the barrel and not just a part of it.
The binoculars are versatile, as they will close focus down to 2 metres, so if you are lucky enough to have something land close by, there is an even better opportunity to see every detail. The twist-up eye-cups are designed for use with or without spectacles, so depending on preference, the eye-cups can be left down for use with glasses, or twisted up for users without; this also works well when wearing sunglasses, as the cups can be left down and the glare from bright sunshine is kept to a minimum, great if on safari, or looking out to sea on a particularly sunny day.
In addition to the excellent quality of the glass used in the Hawke Nature Trek binoculars, they boast the better quality BAK 4 prism, which give a super round exit pupil ensuring edge to edge crispness and less distortion of the image. The glass in the binoculars is multi-coated, which also helps get bright sharp images and have been phase corrected to correct the phase shift that occurs when directing light onto magnifying surfaces.
The angle of view on these 8x32 binoculars is nice and wide, which means that finding wildlife at a distance across a large horizon is made much easier and the compact and lightweight design, is great for spending all day out and about. The neoprene strap which is included, is very comfortable and attaches to the side lugs on the binoculars by threading through and attaching back onto itself and Hawke have conveniently added objective lens covers, which are attached to the barrel, so tend to stay on, even in the roughest of days; they have also included a rain guard for the really bad days. The nylon case is slightly padded and will attach to a belt, but also stays on the binoculars if they are being carried over the shoulder and there is no excuse for dirty lenses, as the binoculars come with a lens cleaning cloth.
