Hawke Nature Trek 10x42 Binoculars are a robust pair of binoculars made from strong, durable polycarbonate, which is shock resistant and sealed to make them waterproof, which is a huge advantage for keen wildlife watchers, as the weather can be somewhat unpredictable. The polycarbonate body is also lightweight as well as being strong, keeping weight to a minimum which is ideal when out all day. The focusing reel is ergonomically set in the middle of the two barrels and easy to use, even when wearing gloves and the twist up caps make the binoculars versatile to use, even for spectacle wearers. If the cups are down, then glasses or sunglasses can stay on and if they are up, then the binoculars comfortably fit into the eye sockets and the soft rubber rims make them extremely comfortable.
The Nature-Trek model come nitrogen purged to avoid fogging and they are sealed to be fully waterproof, which is great when using them in a heavy rain storm or even if they get accidentally dropped in water and they can be washed after use, if they get particularly dirty. The BAK 4 prisms give outstanding optical quality, as they correct the light anomalies that occur when reflecting light through separate glass lenses. They also ensure that the image in the barrels is circular, giving edge to edge quality which can sometimes be lost on lesser quality optics. The close focusing is really useful, as sometimes wildlife can appear nearby and the binoculars can show every detail with clear colour rendition.
The right eyecup has an eyesight correction wheel, so the binoculars can be set up in a custom mode, which is specific the users individual eyesight correction. It is really easy to set up, just focus the binoculars using the main focus wheel and then turn the wheel left or right, for plus and minus, until the image is absolutely crisp. Once this has been done, the eyesight correction wheel can be left alone and the binoculars are set and ready to go.
The 10x magnification is great for bringing objects closer and even though the magnification is quite strong, it is easy to hold the binoculars steady for long periods, due to the comfortable holding position of each barrel. Hawke have conveniently supplied protective objective lens covers, which are attached to the end of the binoculars, so they don't get lost, as well as a neoprene strap, case and rain guard. An all round great pair of binoculars at a great price.

A really excellent pair of intro binoculars. Very impressed. Light, comfy to carry with a nice soft neck strap, fab caps to keep both ends clean. Easy to use with excellent views. Impressed. Thought I would need to spend more to get this quality.
