The Culmann 40470 Quick Release Plate has a 1/4" thread connection and can be attached to Cullman heads for easy access to equipment. The quick release plate measures 42x42x8mm

Over the years I've accumulated many camera bodies and some lenses with a tripod mounting bracket. Each of these needs the 'male' Cullman Quick Release Plate (40470) to mate with various of my tripods and a focusing rack, each of which has the corresponding 'female' Cullman receptacle.
The early versions of the 40470 had a fixed second pin (to mate with certain video cameras I believe) and this had to be removed (unscrewed) but this is now spring loaded so can stay in place.
A further improvement is that the 1/4" Whitworth screw (for camera or lens attachment) used to require a 1p coin to tighten/loosen but now has a fold-away turn-key. This is important because, despite the small plate size, it can impede opening of battery and/or memory card access on certain cameras.
