Canon EOS R5 Mark II: Master the Moment with Speed, Resolution, and Versatility

The Canon EOS R5 Mark II combines incredible 45-megapixel resolution with breathtaking speed, achieving up to 30fps and up to 8K 60p RAW video. This camera excels in every genre of visual storytelling, making it perfect for photographers and filmmakers alike. The DIGIC Accelerator technology powers Dual Pixel Intelligent AF, featuring next-generation Eye Control AF and Action Priority mode. With a max ISO of 51,200 (extendable to ISO 102,400) supported by in-camera Neural Network noise reduction, the EOS R5 Mark II delivers amazing results even in low light. Its advanced connectivity ensures you can get content to clients quickly and reliably. The EOS R5 Mark II is your tool to conquer creative ambitions.

Features and Benefits

DIGIC Accelerator Meets DIGIC X for Exceptional Performance The EOS R5 Mark II’s Dual Pixel Intelligent AF and Eye Control AF set new standards. Sharp focus is maintained on moving subjects, even when briefly obscured from view. Action Priority mode detects players in football, basketball, and volleyball, moving the active AF area in response to specific actions, such as a shot on goal made from a high-speed pass.

Where Speed Meets Resolution Whatever the story, the EOS R5 Mark II speaks your language. Shoot incredible 45-megapixel photos at 30fps speed with a 15-frame Pre-Capture feature, or capture stunning 8K 60p RAW video. The EOS R5 Mark II unlocks new creative possibilities, no matter your needs.

Switch to Hybrid Use the full width of the EOS R5 Mark II’s sensor to shoot sensational 8K footage – rich in detail and crop-friendly during editing. 8K 60p Light RAW portrays moving subjects with silky smooth motion. 14-bit color depth offers fine gradation and wide dynamic range. With Dual Shooting, capture 33.2-megapixel (16:9) photos at 7.5fps while shooting Full HD video simultaneously.

Fast Connectivity Under Pressure Get your photos and video back to your client more quickly and reliably than ever, whether connected wirelessly with Wi-Fi 6E1 or tethered via USB. An optional battery grip allows connection via 2.5G BASE-T Ethernet for enhanced performance.

Powerful Performance Built on Advanced Technology The EOS R5 Mark II is brimming with advanced technologies, including the revolutionary RF lens mount. An up to 8.5-stop Image Stabilizer lets you shoot handheld with slow shutter speeds, while customizable controls let you set up the camera to suit your scene and shooting style. All this is housed in an agile, robust design that inspires creativity from the moment you hold it.

New Technology Explained

Advanced 45-Megapixel Stacked Image Sensor A next-generation full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor combines stunning resolution and dynamic range with incredible speed and video capabilities. A max ISO 51,200 sensitivity (extendable to ISO 102,400) is supported by in-camera neural network noise reduction for cleaner, more detailed JPEG images.

DIGIC Accelerator The EOS R5 Mark II sees DIGIC Accelerator and DIGIC X image processors working together for phenomenal performance. AF tracking of people, animals, and objects is improved – even objects that are momentarily obscured from view are tracked continuously and kept in sharp focus. Action Priority recognizes key events in football, basketball, and volleyball and moves the active AF point in anticipation. Stills and video can be captured simultaneously, thanks to the DIGIC Accelerator’s ability to process large volumes of data at speed.

In-Camera Upscaling Deep-learning enables in-camera upscaling by up to four times, generating high-resolution versions for cropping or printing at huge sizes. The same deep-learning capability delivers incredible noise reduction for smooth, detailed images at high ISO sensitivities.

Action Priority Focus Mode When shooting photos with the EOS R5 Mark II’s advanced electronic shutter, the DIGIC Accelerator processor identifies significant actions in three sports: football, basketball, and volleyball. The camera automatically switches the active AF area to a person performing critical actions, such as a shot from a high-speed pass.

Next Generation Eye Control AF Select an AF area or a subject to track simply by looking at it. Newly developed optics and a revised line-of-sight algorithm enhance the accuracy of the system, compared with the EOS R3, and broaden the effective angle for a more natural experience.

Pre-Continuous Shooting Fifteen frames are buffered continuously while the shutter-release is half-pressed and are written to the memory card when the shot is taken. This lets you capture images from the previous ½ second, ensuring you nail that decisive moment. At slower shooting speeds, the pre-capture time increases, giving you even more flexibility.

Canon EOS R5 Mark II: Master Every Moment

Capture stunning visuals with the Canon EOS R5 Mark II, offering unparalleled speed, resolution, and hybrid capabilities for photographers and filmmakers across all genres.

Canon R5 refresh

I am not sure I know what I was expecting the long-anticipated arrival has been a little lacklustre. When I got my RP I was wow this is different and I still love that camera today. In regard to the Canon R5mkii if you take away the eye control which is a bit hit and miss and the 45Mb then you’ve principle got a R6mkii. The cooling vents make me little concerned but not overly. The one thing that really disappointed me was no GPS and although the substitute app works relatively well the wifi drops out a lot and noticeably consumes way too much battery power. I have started having a play and working my way around the settings and I’m relatively pleased with Canon’s refresh of the R5 but there is a little bit of me wondering whether a now a sub £4k R3 would have been a little more exciting as those that own them think they are pretty special. RP/R8 Travel, R3 Pro and the R5mkii a bit of both but nearly £3k better than a R6mkii?
