The Billingham Hadley Digital will store a small DSLR with standard short zoom lens attached and the double darted flap locks into place with an adjustable quick release strap. The fully adjustable shoulder strap is designed to go under a leather loop, to which AVEA side pockets can be attached for added room.
M Billingham & Co was founded in 1973 and still runs as a family business today. The bags are a UK success story as they have been conceived, designed and made here in the United Kingdom as a spin off from fishing bags, apparently the photographers of New York bought the fishing bags to carry their camera equipment in, and the rest is, as they say, history. The bags have solid brass fittings, top grain leather and waterproof canvas which is specifically chosen for its natural properties and remarkably is incredibly resistant to the weather the UK has to offer.
Billingham have branched out into synthetic fibres, which are still tough and hard wearing, but slightly lighter than the canvas versions. The FibreNyte is a super durable fabric which has been bonded to a polyester lining using the Billingham StormBlock butyl rubber. This means that the bag weighs approximately 10% less than the traditional canvas bags. It is remarkably soft, which helps eliminate any abrasion and colourfast as the dyes are bonded to the material.
Covered by a 5 Year Manufacturer's Guarantee and is Made in England.

Excellent compact shoulder bag with typical Billingham high quality and attention to detail.
The 'Hadley Digital' is perfect for when you want to travel light, it's also not cumbersome like some satchels either. I opted for the 'Black Fibrenyte' version which is very discreet, perfect when out and about and not wishing to stand out or draw attention to yourself.
The internal padding is thick and provides excellent protection for your valuable camera and lens. There is also a padded flap beneath the main top, this flap also provides excellent protection. If storing a digital camera in the 'lens down, screen up' fashion the padded flap provides reassuring protection for the delicate screen.
When closed the main top comes down and over the camera compartment thus providing excellent protection from inclement weather. Regarding weather, like all other Billingham bags the 'Hadley Digital' has a layer of butyl rubber sandwiched between the outer canvas/fibrenyte and the inner lining to provide a very high degree of waterproofing.
So what cameras will fit inside? Well quite a few formats actually, depending on how much you wish to carry. For example I can fit my Olympus Pen-F Digital with 17mm f1.8 attached along with the 45mm f1.8 and 12mm f2 stacked. However the reason I purchased this satchel was not for storing that camera, I wanted a quality, small satchel to hold my Hasselblad X2D 100C with 55mm f2.5 XCD lens attached along with a couple of spare batteries and the 'Hadley Digital' is perfect for that. Removing one of the two included vertical dividers allows me to store two spare batteries side-by-side in the space between the remaining divider and the wall of the interior with the X2D and lens attached, facing down perfectly in the remaining space - just what I wanted.
So there you have it, the Billingham 'Hadley Digital' .... the perfect small and discreet satchel that can hold a three lens M4/3 or rangefinder outfit, a semi-pro DSLR and even a compact medium format camera such as the Hasselblad X2D with one lens .
