Benro's HD1A 3-Way Panhead is a lightweight tripod head weighing just 0.59kg and supports up to 5kg of equipment. Graduated scales for quick repositioning, a separate pan knob, and three built-in bubble levels make this a great addition to your kit. An Arca-type compatible quick release plate is included.
An interchangeable QR system provides effortless and rapid camera changes and the patended spring lock combined with manual release provides extra security.
A great value tripod head that works very well. I bought it to carry my Leica spotting scope, and am very happy with the way it performs - it has removed the problems I had with my previous pan/, tilt head that the act of locking the head moved its position.
It's the first time I've spent a bit for a decent tripod pan head so took the recommendation from Harrisons for this one. I'm just finishing the editing for the first paid work using this head and it's performed really well. The in-built level seems to work well and it was easy and quick to use. It feels solid and robust and I'm really glad I didn't scrimp on this and get a cheap one - very happy with it.
The product has a defect. One of the three mini spirit levels has not been attached properly. The one controlling the horizontal plane is offset so that when the bubble is in the middle the camera support is pointing downwards by about 10 degrees. This is not a major problem since I have a mini spirit level I can attach to the flash gun bracket. Also, when using Live View it is easy to align the camera horizontally.
I wanted a 3-way Panhead to use when taking landscape photographs, to able to accurately set the head level, and independently be able to tilt or to rotate it for stitched panorama shots. Ball heads do not easily allow this because if you wish to tilt the head all the other setting need to be re-exstablished. I already own a similar head which does a near-perfect job, but for one issue, its weight.
This head is considerably lighter than my other and has three spirit-levels. It locks into position and stays locked. I would recommend it for any photographer who has similar needs.
