Neutral Density (ND) filters can be recognised by their dark-coloured glass. The purpose of this type of filter is to reduce the amount of light that hits the lens without affecting the colour of the image. Since less light is exposed to the sensor, ND filters allow you to shoot with slower shutter speeds, giving a spectacular effect when shooting a moving subject such as flowing water or fast traffic. As a result, ND filters are perfect for landscape photography, flash photography and street photography.
