The Nikon D610 Digital SLR Camera is designed for serious photographers featuring a 24.3 megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor and a standard ISO range of 100-6400, which can be extended up to 25600 and as low as 50. The Nikon D610 also features the EXPEED 3 Image Processing Engine, a 3.2" 912k dot resolution LCD screen and approx. 100% frame coverage through the viewfinder.
The FX-format sensor, EXPEED 3 Image-Processing Engine and NIKKOR lenses produce extraordinary image and video quality. It provides a dynamic range and reduced noise at a high ISO. With its 24.3 megapixels, image sharpness is guaranteed. Stunning bokeh image effects can be produced with the FX format with it's large-sized image plane. EXPEED 3 Image Processing is optimized for DSLR's. It processes the data of 24.3 effective megapixels at high speed. Nikon's Picture Control system is made possible by the EXPEED 3. Picture Control allows you to produce the images you want, it excels at colour reproduction, gradation processing and image quality. The D610 produces reproduction of rich tonal gradation by 16-bit image processing. of the digital signal. This DSLR comes supplied with the ViewNX2 image browsing/editing software - it provides importing and browsing capabilities of images and movies, also editing functions such as resize and brightness adjustment.
The D610 detects colour and brightness of the shooting scene before optimizing the Scene Recognition System and also indentifies the light source. The auto white balance accuaracy has also been enhanced, this allows the camera to produce colours much more naturally and discovers the difference between indoor and outdoor photographs. Also, adding to the 'Normal' setting of Auto 1 which compensates lighting colours, another auto white balance mode can also be set - Auto 2 (Keep warm lighting colours), this maintains warm lighting ambiece when shooting under incandescent light. The standard ISO sensitivity, ranges from 100 to 6400. Under hard lighting conditions, it's possible to expand to ISO 50 (Lo 1) or ISO 25600 (Hi 2) equivalent. The D610 feature an improved image-processing performance and noise reduction system and now minimizes noise at higher ISOs. The improved noise reduction system analyses the noise in an image and noise reduction is applied accordingly. Auto ISO sensitivity control allows the camera to adjust the ISO sensitivity automatically is optimal exposure cannot be achieved at the value selected. The shutter speed at which the camera will start increasing ISO sensitivity for optimal exposure is automatically selected based on the lens' focal length. This enables shooting with reduced camera shake when using a zoom lens or if the lens is changed.
The D610 when combined with the quick performance of the EXPEED 3 image-processing engine, high-speed continuous shooting at up to approx. 6 fps in FX format for a maximum of 100 shots. Start-up time is only approx. 0.13 and release time lag is approx. 0.052s. The shutter-release button and power switch are easily located, this promises a smooth transaction from turning on the camera to releasing the shutter. The quiet shutter release mode is ideal for when you choose the shoot with less mirror movement sound. For shooting a single frame, the mirror doesn't click back into plate when the shutter-release button is fully pressed. This allows delay of the timing of the click made by the mirror. The D610's optical viewfinder features approx. 100% frame coverage, which enables confirmation of the entire large image area of FX format for precise composition. Approx. 0.7x magnification allows easy viewing of all the visual elements including the information display. The D610 comes equipped with a Multi-CAM 4800 autofocus sensor module. 39 focus points acquire and track subjects precisely and the nine cross-type sensors cover the most used center area. Af area can be selected from single-point AF, dynamic-area AF (9 points, 21 points, 39 point), 3D tracking and auto-area AF.
The D610 is designed with a lightweight and rugged body with dust-prevention and weather-resistance employing magnesium alloy. The shutter button is placed to ensure natural finger movement even with the compactness of the D610's body. The power switch has been made flat, therefore it doesnt affect the shutter release operation. The grip on this SLR is effectively deeper and longer providing a stable hold over this body. Made with a rubber material, this grip provides reliable holding. The cover for the headphone connector, USB connector, accessory terminal, etc. is seperated into three to ensure dust-prevention and weather-resistance for the individual sections. The base of the D610 body is designed with anti-slip patterns, this ensure an extra-strong grip when shooting vertically on a tripod.
