SIGMA presents the 70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Lens – Nikon Fit, a fully customisable durable lens that’s it ideal for professional and high-end amateur photographers. As part of the Sport range, this lens is ideal for photographing fast-action subjects such as birds, airplanes and motorsports. With high functionality and incredible optical performance, capturing fast-action has never been easier.
With the fast, constant f2.8 aperture and telephoto zoom focal range of 70-200mm, this lens gives you enough latitude to confidently work in low light and allows you to achieve a shallow depth-of-field with a stunning bokeh effect.
The SIGMA 70-200mm lens not only features a HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) that ensures autofocus is rapid and near-silent but also incorporates Intelligent OS with an acceleration sensor so you can move quickly in any direction. The still produced are consistently precise as the advanced algorithm captures immediate movement.
SIGMA incorporates 10 low-dispersion glass elements to ensure edge-to-edge sharpness and high definition without any optical defects. Featuring 9 FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass elements and 1 SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element to help prevent any aberrations.
To ensure the lens has excellent manoeuvrability, SIGMA have constructed the lens barrel out of magnesium alloy. As it is lightweight and durable, this makes travelling with the SIGMA 70-200mm a breeze.
The SIGMA 70-200mm lens has been constructed to withstand changing conditions. It includes a water and oil-repellent coating to ensure water can be wiped away easily and to prevent any oil or fat from sticking to the surface. Alongside the effective dust and splash resistant structure and special sealing at the mount connection, manual focus ring, zoom ring and cover connection.

Having read all the professional reviews on various photographic websites I decided to take the plunge and invest in, what most of them described as a superb all rounder lens and I am so glad I did.
From the moment you un-box the lens and attach it to your DSLR, you know that you have got a premium quality lens to work with, it has a very solid feel to it. The lockable lens hood is a great touch, especially for those who lose them regularly. The permanently attached tripod foot and lens collar that will fit into any arca swiss tripod head clamp is a very useful addition to this lens as it negates having to use a L-bracket to change your camera format from landscape to portrait.
Using the lens for the first time was an instant hit, the focusing is super fast and very accurate, even in low light situations, the lens optical stabilisation works perfectly and allows for hand-held shots at least 3-4 stops less than normal.
The images produced by using this outstanding lens are punchy with excellent contrast and captured superb fine detail, even more so if used with an high megapixel DLSR such as a Nikon D850.
Sharpness is brilliant throughout the whole image, from F2.8- F11 , the results will deliver first class pictures, obviously depending on subject matter and photographers requirements.
The lens can be fine tuned to the users taste, such as focus limiting to certain lengths, different optical stabilisation options dependant on use and the lens software can also be updated using a sigma lens dock.
The only very minor negative would be that it is an heavy lens, weighing just short of 4lbs, but that is to be expected of a lens that is packed with expensive top quality glass.
I would thoroughly recommend this lens to any serious photographer whatever genre they specialise in, it is a top allrounder
