The Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM C Lens - Nikon Fit is a lightweight, hyper-telephoto zoom lens featuring high usability and outstanding optical performance. This lens incorporates 1 'F' Low Dispersion (FLD) glass elemtns which has performance equal to fluorite, and 3 Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements and compensates for chromatic aberration. The 150-600mm Contemporary lens features a detachable tripod socket to use on a tripod or to be carried by itself when detached. The tripod socket is made of magensium which is light yet strong. The Optical Stabilizer (OS) function features an acceleration sensor to ensure even higher precision. Two OS modes are available: Mode 1 for general photography and Mode 2 for motor sports and other aplications which require panning. The new xoom lock switch enables the zoom ring to be locked at any focal length and can be fixed at the photographers desirable focal length which allows stable shooting whether the lens is upwards or downwards.
The 150-600mm C lens incorporates a water and oil-repellent coating which allows water to be wiped away easily and prevents oil and grease from sticking to the surface. The lens mount incorporates a rubber sealing in which to protect the mount part from dust and water drops. The Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) ensures high speed and quiet AF with the further enhanced AF algorithm compared to previous models. Manual Override is incorporated as one of the options of the focus mode switch. By setting it to the MO position, it switches to manual focus by rotating the focus ring even during continuous AF. This lens incorporates a brass made bayonet mount which has both high accuracy and durability. The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting and provides sharp and high contrast images even in backlit conditions. Supplied with the LH1050-01 Hood, LCF-III 95mm Front Cap,LCR-II Rear Cap, TS-71 Tripod Socket and Protective Cover.

This contemporary variant of the 150 to 600mm lens is great value for money, especially if your new to larger zoom lenses. A lot people question the optics and wrongly turn their noses up at it. Those that do and have used one, have not preprogrammed it with the USB dock. The Sigma dock, is purchased separately to the lens, costing around £30.00. Use the dock and program the lens to your camera and custom settings before using it. Honestly it sharpens the optics aligns the AF and other key aspects of the lens to your own camera. I have some award winning shots from using this lens. Its fantastic value, it’s not a low light or dawn specialist lens, but in decent light, it’s tack sharp and crisp. Any soft images are down to camera operator and failure in the setup. The only down side is this lens is it’s not fully weather sealed. The Sport variant of this lens has full weather sealing, and is a little heavier, plus if sports or wildlife are what you’re after, the sport variant has quicker AF and a slightly larger diameter front element to the contemporary, that makes subject acquisition and tracking a little more efficient. Optically both are just about the same. I still own and use this lens alongside my primes and pro kit, that’s how well regarded this lens. A cracking lens for the money, but get a Sigma USB dock as well, it will be the best £30.00 you spend allowing you a 100% use of your lens, without it you’re only getting around 60 to 70% of the lenses capability.
Let down by a well known chain of Photography Stores, who after 6 weeks were unable to deliver or provide a delivery date, it was Harrison Cameras to the rescue. Delivered within 48 hours of first contact with Eve in Customer Service. 5 star service. The lens I can't say too much about yet - It feels solid and the test shots I took around the garden are impressive. Happy Customer, would recommend Harrison and also Sigma.
I cannot begin to explain how impressed I am with this lens. The performance and quality of images is amazing. First time out I used the lens "hand held" taking wild life pictures all day without and issues. I actually returned my monopod to the car. Unbelievable value for money.
Absolute cracking lens wish I had bought it before I bought 70-200 f2.8. Image quality superb with a reach that goes beyond expectation for sport and wildlife photography. Definitely worth the money for sport or wildlife photography.
Before I bought this lens I read dozens of reviews. The only negative word in most of them was heavy. It is heavy but it is also wonderful value for money.
