This Sigma 105mm medium telephoto macro lens incorporates clever stabilization technology meaning you can use slower shutter speeds than would otherwise be possible, great when shooting in dark conditions, for example, without getting camera shake. The closest focusing position is nearly 1.5m but you’ll be filling the frame thanks to the telephoto focal length and in macro, you can get right in close. What’s more, the excellent optical performance combined with the 105mm focal length is perfect for handling portraits. The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting, maintaining quality images with high contrast.
Digital SLR Photography said that the lens produced superb image quality with ‘bitingly sharp results’ and Amateur Photographer was also impressed: ‘With regards to controlling distortion, it’s clearly a first-class optic.’ PhotoPlus echoed the praise finding that it had wonderfully smooth manual focusing and ‘dead-on autofocus accuracy’. Professional Image Maker applauded the Sigma’s flawless performance that makes the lens trusted for any job. 3 year warranty only from Sigma Authorized Dealers.

The lens incorporates floating inner focusing which moves two lens groups seperately whichcorrects image distortion, especially when taking close-up pictures. Since the focusing doesn't change externally, the overall length of the Sigma 105mm f2.8 EX DG OS HSM Lens, is compact and easy to handle.

This lens is also compatible with Sigma's APO Tele Converters. With APO Tele Converter 1.4x ED DG, it can be used as 147mm F4 AF telephoto macro lens, and APO Tele Converter 2x EX DG as 210mm F5.6 MF telephoto macro lens. I bought this lens for my Nikon D5300 camera having previously dabbled with macro photography using magnification filters on an ordinary lens. There is no comparison. The Sigma 105 mm F2.8 DG OS HSM is incredibly sharp, not only as a true macro lens, where the results are remarkable but also as a medium range telephoto. The autofocus is effective, even at close range as is the optical stabilisation system. I’ve always found Sigma lenses to be good quality and this one is no different. Still made in Japan, they are beautifully engineered and reassuringly sturdy. I’ve had a Sigma 18-250 mm zoom for over 10 years and taken it all over the world with me. It is still working perfectly. I also own a Sigma 100-400 mm zoom which I use for shooting wildlife, as well as a couple of Nikon prime lenses. The 105mm F2.8 DG OS HSM comes with a three year manufacturer’s warranty and at a very competitive price. Free delivery was fast and efficient via DHL. This is first time I have purchased from Harrison’s Cameras and I will have no hesitation in using them again. I found their service to be excellent and was particularly impressed with the way they kept me informed at each stage of the process. I am delighted with my new lens and would recommend the Sigma F2.8 DG OS HSM to anyone who would like to try macro photography at a reasonable price point.
I bought this lens after breaking my Nikon 105 macro which I have had for 16 years. I must admit this Sigma lens is every bit as good as the Nikon, the only caveat is I would say that the focusing is slightly slower on my Z50 with the FTZ,but that is not a problem with a macro lens as A/F is of limited use at 1 to 1 magnification. Also tthe lens is half the price of the Nikon. I have ot5her Sigma lenses and I find them as good as OEM lenses.
