I haven't used yet but the pack is well designed and appears sturdy, with plenty of lumbar support. Good rear access, which is what I wanted. And both central and side options for tripod.
You really get what you pay for here. If you're hiking with lots of camera or outdoors kit this bag is PERFECT. The support offered by the hip belt and shoulder straps is on par with my Osprey backpacking bags. The aluminium frame really does help dispurse the weight and stop that floppy camera backpack syndrome when loading up a regular camera backpack. On my visit to Snowdonia I was in prolongued torrential rain and while the fabic of the bag absorbed some moisture the camera section and inside any comaprtments remained completely dry. Usefull for long day hikes with room for food, water and extra clothing. I will also use it for astro (pack a startracker and clothing), and for carrying my 400w strobe for outdoor portrait shoots. At a push with really lightweight camping gear I think you could get away with some wild camping as well. I bought the Elite 45 with the 13 litre Stashmaster so I'd have a lot more room for food in my backpack. There are so many well thought out features, such as the tripod attachment, waterproof zips, durable base, even under the lid there is a sleeve for putting a jacket, rope, tent sleeping bag, etc. Being able to remove the lid and wear without it makes the dimensions slightly smaller. And the cavernous expanding rear pocket for laptops or clothing is superb and can be accesses while the lid is still on the pack. All materials are super tough and durable to the usual Mindshift quality. Spot on delivery and service from Harrison Cameras.
Excellent bag. I already own a Mindshift 26 L but needed a much larger bag to take to India on my quest to photograph snow leopards as I am hiring a Nikon 800mm lens. Amazingly I have managed to fit in a Nikon 800mm lens without the hood, a Nikon D850, a Nikon D500, a Nikon 500mm 5.6 , a Nikon 28-300 plus two teleconverters! The tripod is strapped at the front. Waterboottle in the side. Ready to go! Haven't used in the field yet but like the flexibility of this bag, the hard wearing storm proof material, the extra waterproof cover, the fact that you have a floating bag on top or a separate bag on the hips and you can even take the interior padded camera compartment out of the bag if you are up against air travel restrictions (hopefully won't have to do that!). I am a 62 year old grandmother and it feels fine on my shoulders but would need to update the review after I have used it in the field. There is plenty of room in the front pockets for laptop/ipad and personal gear. The zips are sealed and have easy to use tags which will be great in cold weather.
