The Fujifilm 16-55mm f2.8 R LM WR Fujinon XF Lens is ready to be put to the test in all environments. It is the best companion for travelling with as the focal range of this zoom lens is equivalent to four XF prime lenses, making it more convenient. With the 16-5mm focal range, you can fine tune the details and create stunning bokeh effects whilst still keeping your foreground subjects in crisp focus. Experience and enjoy true to life colours that have never been seen before on a zoom lens.
Ensuring Edge-to-edge Sharpness
In order to maintain uniform images with edge-to-edge sharpness, the Fujifilm 16-55mm lens has a nine-blade diaphragm and is made up of 17 elements in 12 groups. Including three aspherical elements to help battle distortion and spherical aberrations as well as three extra-low dispersion elements to ensure there are no chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range.
PReact instinctively when shooting as this lens focuses in 0.02 seconds. Fujifilm’s AF system includes a high-speed linear motor that ensures accurate, rapid and silent focusing even as the subject moves around the frame.
The Fujifilm 16-55mm lens has been robustly engineered to withstand all environments. It is dust and moisture-resistant with 14 sealing points so you can focus on shooting whether it is raining or snowing.
This lens has a multilayer coating of HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating) which works to ensure there are reduced effects of ghosting and flare. As well as Nano GI Coating that prevents ghosting and flare at diagonal angles. The Fujifilm 16-55mm lens gives you unlimited shooting opportunities no matter the lighting.

A wonderful zoom for Fuji pro bodies. I use it with my XH1 and I couldn't be happier - sharp, great colour, fast.
Many X-shooters will wonder if there is any point in upgrading to this lens from the 18-55 f2.8 - 4 . As I have now done exactly that I can pass on my thoughts.
The 18-55 is a very good lens capable of giving first class results, the 16-55 betters this both in the extreme corners at f2.8 ( 18mm ) and at the longest focal length of 55mm. At around f5.6-f8 in the middle focal lengths there is not a lot in it, the 16-55 having the edge.
You must remember of course that the 18-55 has the advantage of image stabilisation which works well. I found by 2 to 3 stops.
The lens is not too heavy or bulky compared to my previous nikon gear but still a little large for the smaller Fuji cameras ( ie XE1/2 ). On the XT1 the lens feels well balanced although a grip is recommended. The performance of this lens is amazing - at 16mm wide open all the way to 55mm at all apertures with the exception of f22 where diffraction enters a little. For Jpeg shooters the XT1 and the "LMO" will counteract that.
The lens of course is weather sealed, this together with the extra wide angle reach and superb performance makes it well worth the money. Do not forget that as there is no
image stabilisation a tripod may be needed in low light situations if you wish to use low ISO.
