I bought this to attach a Sony alpha a 3000 dslr to a F5 reflector scope. These fast telescopes quite frequently do not have the ability to focus and require the use of a Barlow. This ring adds far less optical distance than most accessories for the Sony e mount lenses, mainly for the Nex series of cameras (the a3000 is a Nex but in standard slr shape). Keeping the distance short aids getting focus without running out of focuser travel.

The bayonet size of the fitting is a good fit to the camera, though the index for mating is a not obvious red dot and on the underside, not as shown in the item photo. This makes the process a bit frustrating. The T42 female thread on the adapter fitted the Barlow lens perfectly and all worked well re focus and holding the camera on the telescope firmly.

Finally, the photo shows an item made in Japan. That supplied has no country of origin and while it came in what seems to be an official Dorr packaging, the quality doesn't quite seem consistent with the manufacturer.
