Formed from 8 layers of 100% pure carbon fibre, the 3 Legged Thing Alana monopod is both strong and lightweight, yet can support up to 60 kg / 132 lb of camera gear. Alana Monopods top section features a large rubber grip for comfort alongside the smooth, curved, magnesium alloy mounting plate. Its leg locks feature grippy rubber O-Pads making it comfortable to use in any weather. With 5-sections, the Alana Monopod is designed to be compact when folded, ensuring it can easily fit into luggage or camera bags, and with ¼”-20 and 3/8”-16 threads at both ends, the Alana excels as a monopod, and can also be used as a lighting or boom arm. Alana comes in a kit with the Docz2, - a rugged foot stabiliser designed specifically to add stability to monopods.

I decided to treat myself to this monopod and foot assembly to replace my existing monopod. Compared to my old one it is massive and chunky. I was delighted to find that it was incredibly light in weight and the leg hand grips were really comfy in my somewhat arthritic hands. The leg base can be fixed in place or, with the turn of a thread, made flexible allowing the monopod to bend at an angle without losing its firm grip on the ground. I do a lot of insect photography and I have been utterly delighted with the convenience and build quality of this product. It makes my old monopod look like a toy. It also carries a lot of weight in camera gear without flinching. I guess you get what you pay for in the end. But this is superb craftmanship and design in one unit.
